I hate when fighters lose people go ape***** calling em C level overrrated. So basically it's saying Cleverly sucks and takes all credit away from Kovalev.
Fans are part of the reason these fighters care so much about their 0 loss records. Before these guys would be fighting each other without any worries about their record.
This.
You guys should ignore all of these idots. Cleverly already won just by taking this fight. anyone who is not a troll or biased **** gave cleverly MAD props and respect for taking this fight - and almost all of those people thought the fight would go exactly how it did...... But Cleverly still beats almost any LHW in the world and the fact of the matter is there isnt (In my opion) ONE man at 175 who could withstand Kovalevs shots. It says a lot about a guy when Andre Ward is the only person who is seen as a threat to a fighter...... Put that in perspective and you'll see how good Kovalev is and see how Cleverly is being severely underrated by all the trolls. Cleverly is a good boxer, period. IMO. Regardless of his competition thus far.
There was nothing he could of done different.... Kovalev will run this division...
These same morons would of called Kovalev a bum had he lost to Cleverly. Pathetic
if you watch the fight closely you can see that kovolev was starting to tire in the 3rd,,,
He caught cleverly and the adrenlien rush to end the fight gave kovolev his 2nd wind and he finished off cleverly in the 4th....
I really think if cleverly hadnt gotten caught and could have gone past 6, he would have caused kovolev alot of problems......
Cleverly was just not skilled enough to handle the early pressure of kovolev,,,
A skilled counter puncher with good defense will cause kovolev alot of problems late in a fight,,,,
Hopkins maybe to old, but his style would be perfect vs kovolev,,,
Not trying to take anything away from kovolev's win,, he performed great but the only flaw i see in him is stamina,,,, which vs a top defender who could weather the early storm would have a good chance of beating kovolev in the 2nd half of the fight,,,

I love how people keep throwing this hypothetical "Kovalev was starting to tire" out there.
There is absolutey NO indication whatsoever that Kovalev was starting to tire. Come on now.... You're just saying that because that's what NEEDED to happen in order for Clev to have any sort of a chance at winning.

No,,, Watch the 3rd round,,, kovolev was clearly starting to tire after the assaults he did on cleverly in rounds 1,2....
Kovolev caught nate in the 3rd and it recharged him, and he finished the fight,,,
There is no deny that kovolev was tiring,, not saying he was gassed out, but he was slowing down,,, Caught nate, got excited, and finished the fight,,,
look at about a min into the 3rd,,, kovolev was just kinda coming forward and throwing one shot,, cleverly didnt have the skills to capitalize,,,
Like i said, it was a great win for kovolev, but he would have problems with a good defender that can counterpunch,,,,
he reminds me of Rakiem that russian cruiser who did great till someone took him to deep waters, tired him, and stopped him.... Same could happen to kovolez
If you had ever boxed, you would be able to tell by kovolev body language that he was needing a breather,, his workrate was dropping,, cleverly just isnt skilled enough to take advantage,,, a hopkins, floyd, calzaghe would have been able to take advantage,,,, cleverly doesnt have those skills, hence why he got blown out
He was the underdog going in anyway, but with a decent game plan he might have had a chance, he's got a lot of good attributes. The most obvious flaw I've seen in him is his tendency, which can be seen in a lot of British fights no doubt influenced by Naseem Hamed, to leave his hands low. I've seen him just take punches against lesser fighters, his head movement didn't get him out the way and he has no secondary defence, so he takes them and relies on having a good chin to get him through. Against one of the sports biggest hitters that's not going to fly, if punches keep getting through eventually one that really hurts will, and when that happened it was all she wrote. He needed a completely different, stick and move strategy to win this one.
