When it comes to punchers, this Kovalev dude

has shown me more skills than two other guys that fans think can punch.

I'm talking about GG and Matthysse.

Kovalev hits harder than GG and Matthysse, and imo he boxes better than those two combined.

I was very impressed with Kovalev's technique, power, brutality, and humbleness. Kovalev showed a jab, killer hook to the body, pressure, heavy shots and non stop aggression. He has to hold his hands up a bit better to block occasional jabs...which can be taught, but I like the smoothness of his style.

But like any puncher, I have to see if he can take a good shot from a good fighter.

Very impressed, and it's hard to impress Frank D.

I'm almost a believer. A small percentage of me needs more, but Kovalev is the puncher that was advertised.

If we're talking power and pure punchers, I see a similar resemblance of Golovkin and Mathysse

He may be better defensively than those guys imo. But, Matthysse has fought the better comp. But you don't see Kovalev leaving his feet to throw a hook and falling down like Matthysse, and he doesn't follow guys and take punches like GG either. Kov almost has it all.

But you know me. We can't gauge Kov based off of this fight. But I was very impressed with the Kov dude.

matthysse isn't as well schooled as the other two, but i think he is tougher

i was surprised to see that wikipedia has no record of an amateur career on kovalev's page?

Well if he had no amateur career, then he may be one of the most talented fighter to grace the ring without an amateur background lol.

You realise the Lucas and GGG fans are going to be Kovalev fans if they're not already?

It's the same fanbase you'll be going at because they like a certain type of fighter.

He holds his arms low for that fluid style.

No it isn't a "white fighter" thing Weeble Wobble. Kovalev has skills. At times it's like I can see something in guys. I see it in Kovalev. I don't see it in Matthysse or GG-yet. When they start with the so and so is ducking Kovalev, and start spewing Iguana meat, then I'll jump in.

Alot of similarities between them along with all three guys having their skills underrated by alot of fans. Golovkin is the most skilled and well rounded, Kovalev 2nd, Matthysse 3rd.
