Think it's the other way around. A very tough and good, but basic, fighter like Kovalev will inevitably have problems with spoilers.

He should especially stay clear of Ward who I think would school him with ease.

Hopkins would school Stevenson easy, all he gotta do is neutralize that left hand, but Kovalev is a different animal. He's got power in both hands, decent speed, throws combinations, bounces on his feet and fights at pretty fast pace. It's hard to neutralize an explosive guy like that, he's not like those punchers who will follow you and try to catch you with one big shot, he throws punches in bunches and either of them can hurt you. Very difficult fight for B-Hop.

Punchers don't trouble Hopkin's, but a high workrate and speed can. He most certainly can land on Hopkin's but not that much. If Pascal can drop Hopkin's then Kovalev definitely can.
