Comments Thread For: Mosley Was 1st Choice for Brook, Senchenko Selling Well

After Kell Brook stopped Carson Jones in their July rematch, promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport said a big name would be next for Brook. Hearn wanted Shane Mosley but ended up with Vyacheslav Senchenko, an opponent he described as “commercially perfect.”

Hearn cited Senchenko’s credentials as a former welterweight titleholder, as well as his win in November 2012 against a returning Ricky Hatton in Manchester. Hearn spoke August 16 to BoxingScene’s David Greisman and Tim Starks of Queensberry-Rules.com at the weigh-in for the fight between Daniel Geale and Darren Barker in Atlantic City.

“We have to understand the world we live in here,” Hearn said. “This is a business. It’s absolutely flying at the box office. So people like the fight. I got attacked a little bit by the hardcore.” [Click Here To Read More]

If Brook doesn't fight a Top 10 WW next time out, someone like Thurman, Guerrero, Maidana, Alexander/Khan, or even Ortiz.....Im done with the guy.

He's in a position now where his only ticket to the big time is a mandatory shot imo. How's he going to attract a Guerrero or a Maidana over to the UK? He's not all that well known here. He's very much unknown in the US, so why would the top contenders bring him over?

Like I say, he needs to get a mandatory shot and he needs to actually take it this time.

            He's not going to.

Only chances are Alexander (regardless is he wins or loses to Khan) or Khan.

I'm not really aware of who holds the trinkets at 147 but if there's a decent-average fighter holding a belt he might fight for that.

If Broner vacates his belt he might fight for that aswell.

He's becoming a joke. When I decided to join here I remember reading stuff back in the Summer if 2011 that Brook wanted to fight for the title next time out, was ready to step up and here we are in 2013 and he's yet to do it. It's hard to be a fan of him, same with Gary Russell Jr right now.

Senchenko is a good fight. Mosley would have been huge in the UK too.
