Comments Thread For: Cleverly Admits: I May Have To Weather The Storm Early

WBO champion Nathan Cleverly is convinced the bookies have got it all wrong. Cleverly is happy to be considered the underdog in his clash against Sergey Kovalev.

But the unbeaten Welshman is happy to be the underdog in his sixth defense at Cardiff’s Motorpoint Arena tonight.

He faces rugged Russian Sergey Kovalev, who has stopped 19 of his 21 victims with 18 of those falling inside the first three rounds.

No wonder, then, that Kovalev is odds-on favourite against 26-year-old Cleverly, despite the contest taking place on the champ’s home turf.

But light-heavyweight Cleverly said: “The fact that I am not the favourite is providing me with a real kind of inspiration. [Click Here To Read More]

I would have liked to see the math teacher winning on points.
But Clev needs more punching power in order to upset Kovalev -- the volume and speed are not enough in this one...

fitness and chin should be enough, this Russian lunk sure can hit but hes so slow and I suspect unfit as moo. I guess he gasses around round 5. Kov is already 30and hes done nothing except knock out journeymen and tomato cans, you have to wonder why hes not won some kind of title already.

Because Kovalev wanted to win the title, he didn't want the belt to be handled to him by Frank Warren.

Kovalev fought journeymen and tomato cans. What about Cleverly

British fans hyping another mediocre fighter?Hmmmm I've never seen it before. But the hype ends today, and it won't be pretty.

I've seen some Kovalev fights, gotta admit he's decently well rounded.

I still have cleverly in this if he uses his workrate and speed accordingly

            Where have I bigged up Cleverly's fights? I haven't.

clearly you are in the wrong, but I'll let you continue your bad run -

Cleverly isn't weathering any storms tonight. Kovalev paces himself well, keeps his composure and picks his shots carefully.

KOvalev by early KO in this one.

Kovalev signed with Main Evants and has fought a rematch vs Boone (a dude he beat by SD) and KTFO'd him. White..KTFO..Thompson..KTFO...and former world champ Campillo(he ruined him) KTFO.

He looks scary. A GGG at LHW.

                  21-0 WITH 19 KO.

He has fought against 20 different fighters and KTFO'd 19 of them.

Not sure how this fight will play out but my predicition is Kovalev by mid round stoppage. But if cleverly weathers the early storm i see him winning a decision. Too bad ill miss it and have to watch the recording tomorrow
