Canelo doesn't get enough credit for the win over Trout

Yes the fight was close, I had it 115-113 Canelo, the rounds were very close, it could have been a draw, few could have had it as a close Trout win but at the end of the day the 22 year old Canelo beat a 27 year old in his prime slick undefeated southpaw who was coming off of a dominant win over Cotto. I watched the Cotto vs Trout fight and I had Trout winning 118-110. He completley demolished Cotto in a much more impressive fashion than Mayweather, yes people will say Cotto was shopworn etc but nontheless it was a great victory for him.

Canelo may have gassed a bit but he hardly got hit, he will have to throw more punches against Mayweather if he wants to get the win imo. But back to the performance against Trout, he showed some really impressive lateral and head movement, phenomenal at times, his punches were hard and accurate, every shot he hit Trout with that wasn't a jab looked like it took some gas out of Trout. The open scoring in my opinion ruined this fight, but to conclude my thread.... people basing Canelo's chances against Floyd based off of this fight should think twice because Trout is a lot better than people give him credit for, he's tall slick, young and has a great work rate. He would give Mayweather problems.

The fact is, he just didn't look impressive, neither guy did actually.

That's because he looked average, he arguably didn't win, and the fight was a joke with the open scoring.

I disagree, the head and lateral movement he showed, plus his defense, was really impressive. It was a close fight and I think a bit too much is being made of his stamina issues, he was a bit too economical with his punches. He needs to let his hands go a lot more against Mayweather.

He got the victory, landed the cleaner harder punches and knocked down a 27yo prime undefeated Trout for the first time in his career, why would you expect Trout to be a cakewalk? Trout whooped Cotto a lot more impressively than Mayweather did.

I gave it to Canelo but I guess the question arises as to how good is Trout really. Yeah he beat Cotto, but Cotto isn't great at '54. Who else has he beaten?

I was immensely impressed with Canelo in that fight. Like jaw dropping impressed. To that day he'd never faced anyone remotely elite. I think he won the fight period, the kd sealed the deal.

That's not a fact, it's an opinion, and IMO a shitty opinion at that.

Mayweather isn't great at 154. In fact he's rather suspect there, I think he'll regret he ever moved up after The Alvarez fight. The fight against De La Hoya was a draw imo and a shot Cotto gave him trouble.
