a noble gesture that might seem, but closer observation lends us that's because you don't have the option to go down to his level, since hes not said anything as dumb as '40 year old Vitali was the best Vitali'.

through your intention is to argue that Vitali was better at the end of his career (taking a longer time to beat fighters), you've actually argued that Vitali was more efficient back in 2002 (when without the injury he stopped everyone early).

      good one.

would be odd as hell at 40,,,but vit did seem damn sharp in the adamek fight. his reflexes and form looked as good as when he was in his low-mid 30's. it was after that fight when his reflexes and timing clearly were on the diminishing trend

yes (though I have yet to see the fight, I am up Hide at the moment in my Klitology viewing) I am aware that Adamek performed terribly too but that's hardly Vitali's fault (other than facing someone so poor at HW), he did well.

yea,,im sure it helped that adamek was so much smaller and not fighting a smaller mans fight but in terms of hand speed,,timing etc I thought vit looked on top of his game which is a rarity at 40. the only guy I can think of that stayed so sharp at that age is bernard hopkins

hard to compare, Hop has never indulged such a gulf in class. Even todays Bernard would look like God of War against a lightweight champion.

And I'm sorry, but defensive genious and Vitali aren't two words you should associate together.
                Can you read ?

                I was talking about Byrd...

2009 Vitali was less aggressive and less exciting fighter but he was overall a better boxer IMO. Better defense, better distance control, wasn't relying that much on brawling and pure aggression. What happens when you can't take the fighter in first 6 rounds or you have a defensive genius in front of you.
Byrd has a superb defense. You need to structure your response more clearly, could've at least mentioned his name

                    I thought it was obvious.

You were saying Vitali used to take out his opponents early. My point was that's great, but what happens when there is a defensive fighter (like Byrd) in front of him and he's not able to take him out early.

2009 Vitali knows what to do. Not sure about 2002 Vitali.

Gomez is not the best fighter Vitali beat, but I was more impressed by that performance than any other one.

Vitali showed more skills. Many fighter rely on pure aggression and physics, but very rarely that works all the time. Vitali developed over time.

Vitali's prime was when he got stopped by a semi shot Lewis in 6 rounds... I thought this was common sense?
