The 51st WBC World Convention in ****kok in November will be a great success, WBC secretary-general Mauricio Sulaiman said yesterday.

Mauricio, WBC president Jose Sulaiman's son, said he was happy with Thailand's preparations for the Nov 3-9 event to be held at ****kok's Centara Grand Hotel.

"We are looking at some details and I am happy so far," he told the ****kok Post.

"We chose Thailand because its contributions to boxing in general and the WBC in particular."

More than 500 participants from 165 member countries are expected to join the event _ the organisation's only convention this year when all important matters will be discussed. [Click Here To Read More]

500 doesn't seem like a great success as from what I read of last years convention, there were over 1,100 there...it's all about $$ for WBC as I believe, whatever this hotel costs, meals and the cost of the plane to go half way around the world, it is 2 expensive for the rank & file member....I'd guess many won't go because of the expense...

The WBC has been a joke for a decade. They only cater to who gives them the most money. Chavez & vitali have been huge benefactors of this once proud organization... Sanctioning mismatch title fights & protecting the cash cows... This convention is a waste of time... As long as suliaman is in charge nothing will change. If vitali retires it wouldn't surprise me if he appointed ruiz jr & saul montana as the guys fighting for the vacant WBC belt( sarcasm)...
