Alvarado has to hope Ruslan isn't as dangerous at 140.

Alvarado Thought Rios Up From 135 to 140 Was A Handful; Wait For Provo!!!

Provo coming down from 147 to 140... more like 145 to 140 which won't mean anything.... Alvarado thought Rios brought it.... he will not know what to think when Provodnikov starts dropping these heavy handed bombs with both hands on Alvarado in such a relentless way... this fight won't last long. I love this saw'd off, fire plug russian killer.... he got screwed in the Bradley fight, Pacquiao knows how he felt. Bradley talked for weeks about his own dizziness, his concussion like symptoms, and how he had to fight for his life in the last round to keep from getting "stretched out" (Bradley's own words), and on and on.... sounds like a guy that won the fight doesn't Bradley????? Now you want to plant this Alvarado (A Denver club fighter), who has a "W" & a "L" to Rios who is up from 135/138... and you expect him to hold off Provo, who gave Bradley the beatdown of his life, Bradley who weighed more than 150 on fight night???? Provo is for real. Nobody will want any part of him after this train wreck to Alvarado, except maybe Matthysse.

3 big factors in this fight:

        1. obviously in mikes hometown so if this goes to a decision...yeah

        2. Ruslan swells/cuts incredibly easily

        3. the fight is at 140 not 147, prov looked like a tank at 147

Still a badasss fight though, I'm slightly leaning towards mile high mike

Provo got the power and the pressure
Yes Provo has always been a pressure fighter, and Alvarado proved his boxing skills vs Rios. It will probably be a question of just how much pressure Mike can handle... IOW if Ruslan beats Rios' work rate. I think Mike can handle it, but it won't be easy.

Freddie said he had trouble making weight for 140, that'll be a factor:
Some news and notes about the Timothy Bradley-Ruslan Provodnikov fight and the fallout from event … - After his unanimous decision victory over Ruslan Provodnikov, Timothy Bradley admitted to HBO’s Max Kellerman in a post-fight interview that he thought he suffered a concussion because of repeated blows to the head. Dr. Paul Wallace, a California State Athletic Commission physician, advised Boxingscene.com after the fight that Bradley was sent to the hospital for signs of amnesia and not a possible concussion. During the interview with Kellerman, Bradley did admit that he could not remember certain sequences in the fight.

I won't argue about the Provo/Bradley fight. If Pat Russell had done his job right (like he usually does), Provo would be champ now. I just happen to think Alvarado is more than the club fighter you think he is. Not that he won't have his hands full, but I see a wide UD or late KO for Mike. He hits harder than Bradley, and IMO is a better boxer too.

God damn, talk about hard luck for Mike. He upsets Rios, but then gets to watch Rios fly off to Singapore and get rich against a possibly faded Pacquiao, while he's left to fight this monster Provodnikov for pennies on the dollar.

Good luck to him. Provodnikov has been outboxed before, but it's a tall order. I like Provodnikov in this one.

The good part of this crap deal is he gets a home defense in Denver as the main event and gets good money.
Also if he wins, chances are he'll get to fight Pac next.
                    Still an unfair deal
