Comments Thread For: Wilder Ready, Willing To Face Arreola-Mitchell Winner

Knockout artist Deontay Wilder once again dazzled us with his power as it only took him a couple minutes to dispose of Sergi Liakhovich in their bout this past Friday night on Shobox’s main event from Indio, CA. Wilder improved both his win and knockout count to 29 as nobody has been able to handle his punching power for more than 4 rounds.

The power is undeniably real but fans are ready for Wilder to step into the ring with a big name and test himself. BoxingScene’s Rick Reeno reported a few days ago that Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is interested in matching Wilder with the winner of the Chris Arreola-Seth Mitchell showdown taking place on September 6th.

BoxingScene asked Wilder what he thought about the possibility of facing either fighter. [Click Here To Read More]

Eddie chambers should have stayed at heavyweight and been
    In this mix as well

Will the fight be made if Arreola beats Mitchell via destruction?

Wilder is horrible. that said if Mitchell wins how would he survive a shot from wilder if Jonathan Bank KHO and hurt him several times?

          Wilder still isn't very good.

I still say Bryant Jennings and Malik Scott are the best American heavyweights. But if Mitchell manages to beat Arreola, then Wilder-Mitchell is made.......Wilder will kill Mitchell. Seth has no chin, and is average.

Arreola is a fat ass, but he'd probably beat Wilder if he could survive past 3-4 rounds.

He looks trimmer in recent photos, not sure how much impact that will have.

I think Thompson is probably the best current US heavy but Jennings may be better, we just don't know until he steps up.

Good to see Wilder finally starting to step up/ want to step up. A Wilder-Arreola matchup would be exciting and would be the first real step up for Wilder.

That being said, if Mitchell somehow manages to beat Arreola, that would be terrible for Wilders progression IMO. Not that it would hurt him per se, but would stall his progression/stepping up because Serh Mitchell just simply isn't good. I actually think he sucks and a first round KO would do nothing for Wilder. At this point KOing Arreola would be huge for Wilder.

Off topic I guess- but I think Tony Thompson is the best American HW and I think he would beat Wilder and Jennings. IMO

This would probably be the best scenario for Arreola to get back into the top HW mix. I have no doubt he'll KO Mitchell and can test the unproven Wilder who's already being overrated. This would catapult his ratings and his likeliness to appear once again in a major network event.

This imbecilic author is a red headed stepchild of sports writers, HW division is incredibly talented and exciting to watch right now for fights like this. And Wilder is tailor made for Arreola. If he fights Arreola it will be a cash out fight for him. Wilders got incredible power, but questionable boxing skills and chin. Meanwhile, Arreola's got incredible chin, borderline great power, and is an aggressive fighter who will exploit fighters who aren't top boxers. Arreola ko round 3. If Wilder does win, I'll be sold. No one outside the K's are a worse matchup stylistically for him than Arreola, so in the highly unlikely event he wins, I'll be a believer in Wilder.
