Pretty standard for ratings in Japan to be around 10 million plus. I think number 1 that week was a football match between Korea and Japan with over 20 million. The largest rating for boxing in recent years was a Kameda fight with over 40 million. It's among the most watched events in Japan ever.

NSB is cluttered with nonsense anyway. Nothing wrong with a morale booster amidst all the people fighting each other over boxers who couldn't give two ****s about them.

Big ratings are good for the sport. If we focused more on ratings like these the way MMA does people wouldn't run around spouting that boxing is dead nonsense. Not only is it great for me to know that boxing is doing well in my favourite country, but it's equally great to know boxing is big in a country that was previously dominated by MMA.

Now if only Japanese fighters would start fighting outside Japan.

I watched Hajime No Ippo back around 2009 and since then I keep haring that season 3 is coming out any day now. I've given up at this stage.

            Good news,
Japan can produce some legit fighters for sure.
Takeshi Uchiyama is doing really good at the moment.
