Comments Thread For: Crolla is Pumped For Mathews vs. Woodhouse Clash

Anthony Crolla certainly knows a thing a two about the domestic lightweight division. The Manchester entertainer has compiled a superb ledger containing excellent names such as Willie Limond, Kieran Farrell, and Gavin Rees. Perhaps the name Crolla is fondly remembered for is his Liverpool rival, Derry Mathews, as the pair shared two fantastic brawls in what was a classic modern rivalry. With Mathews’ immediate focus on Driffield’s Curtis Woodhouse, Crolla fully believes that September 21st showdown will provide plenty of explosions.

Great to see Mathews getting a bit of coverage. This guy is a blood and guts fighter, will give everything and has come back from bad KO defeats to stay relevant on the domestic scene. The first fight with Crolla was brilliant, and as long as he shows the fighting spirit he does I'll continue to watch him. Respect to Woodhouse too. I remember him playing in midfield for Birmingham City. This guy walked away from top tier football when he was very young, could have made a fortune playing footy but gave it all up to sc**** his way up from ****ty pay checks and 'meaningless' fights in the uk. It took some balls to do that, because the guy hasn't had any hype and carved out his career the hard way. He's not a world beater, but he fights because that's what he loves to do, so for this reason I wish him all the best. Whoever wins, fair play.. It'll be good to watch. My money is on Derry, but I'm hoping Woodhouse can make this interesting... He might.
