WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 24KOs) is planning to hold on to his WBC lightweight crown. In June he moved up by two weight divisions to beat Paulie Malignaggi for the WBA belt. BoxingScene.com reported a few days ago that Golden Boy Promotions is planning to do a major Showtime pay-per-view event on November 9th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas - and their target main event is a fight between Broner and hard-puncher Marcos Maidana.

The truth is though, Matthysse wanted no part of Broner. He always wanted Danny Garcia because they shared the same weight class of 140 lbs. That was why he signed with Al Haymon in order to secure a fight with him. Additionally, until recently when Broner moved up to welterweight, Lucas was always a weight class or two above Adrien. Therefore, I don't think he was ever on Matthysse's radar to begin with. I'm pretty sure that Lucas won't mind fighting him now since his jump up to two weight classes and if he defeats Danny Garcia.
