GG is not good enough nor has he fought anyone good for any boxer to duck him. Ya'll just makin this stuff up, lmao.
Stevens getting ready to duck Golovkin?

Fighters who have avoided GGG:
- Mundine: purse bid for WBA title held, Mundine ran to JMM (when he was not that old as today)
- Sturm: was upgraded to "super champion" in order to avoid a fight with his mandatory (had to pay a huge sum to avoid the guy and hadn't even got 2 belts rofl)
- N'Dam: never wanted any part of Golovkin as "interim champion"
- Geale: gave up his WBA title to avoid Golovkin
- Pirog: agreed to fight him, backed out because of an injury then gave up his title for the Golovkin fight
- Quillin: bull**** excuses (no household name blabla) - looks like he is ducking him, says he's too dangerous
- Martinez: see Quilinn - Also promoter states Martinez won't be fighting that 'beast' as his first fight back (fair enough), but will GGG get the fight soon after? Of Course not
- Murray: avoiding GGG like the plague, whether that's him or his promotion doing it is a different story, but they HAVE recieved an offer, so Murray is lieing or playing ******, as I'm sure he has saw Hattons recent comments. Hatton is essentially saying he's protecting Murray meanwhile Murray is playing 'dumb'.
- Stevens: soon to be added to the listLast edited by T18Z; 08-08-2013, 04:18 PM.Comment

Gave only one of his titles to avenge his sole loss in a big money fight in Australia that has exponentially increased his fame in his country.
Or HBO wants Golovkin vs Murray in primetime in the US and Murray has Visa issues.- Murray: avoiding GGG like the plague, whether that's him or his promotion doing it is a different story, but they HAVE recieved an offer, so Murray is lieing or playing ******, as I'm sure he has saw Hattons recent comments. Also, remember when Edwin Rodriguez was ducking Golovkin?
“I would love to [fight Gennady], his team and promotional company send me a contract to fight at 164lbs and next day they say I have to be 10lbs off. They go on HBO and say they’re big enough to fight anybody from 154 to 168, after I win this tournament I’m open if you want to fight me. My weight is 168lbs, come and get it.”
“Don’t send me a contract saying I have to be 10lbs off or come down to a catch weight, I’m a super middleweight and you said you’d fight anyone from 154 to 168 but then you’re fighting guys at light middleweights. If you’re really as good as you say and your team really believes you’re that good then move up and fight me at 168 and stop sending me contracts that aren’t even worth looking at.”
Edwin Rodriguez is preparing to participate in a super middleweight tournament consisting of 4 fighters, beginning March 30th when Rodriguez steps in the ring with Ezequiel Osvaldo Maderna. That same night Zolt Erdei will square off against Denis Grachev, with the winners meeting in July. The finalist will compete for a million dollar purse withComment

So the first one you're stating he didn't fight him because he wanted more money and to avenge his loss, fair enough with the loss section, not really in agreement that money should dictate everything.Gave only one of his titles to avenge his sole loss in a big money fight in Australia that has exponentially increased his fame in his country.

Second one, Golovkin is a big name now, and Murray will earn his biggest payday yet. HBO have said they would prefer the fight in the US, but what reasoning do you have in regards to Hatton not telling his own fighter the truth? Either that or Murray is playing dumb and pretending like he doesn't know what his own promoter does... take your pick.
I could also take the quote from Hatton where he basically says right now Golovkin would beat Murray (don't see how you could see the quote any other way).Last edited by T18Z; 08-08-2013, 04:44 PM.Comment

That's interesting because Golovkin's trainer Abel Sanchez always rejected catchweights. Also, remember when Edwin Rodriguez was ducking Golovkin?

I guess promoter Tom Loeffler is more interested in protecting his asset. I'm sceptical about that an offer for Murray to fight in the UK was ever received.
Hard to believe anything promoters say.Last edited by Weebler I; 08-08-2013, 05:46 PM.Comment

I remember in an interview Stevens criticized folovkin for that, and then they asked him why he was fighting Saul roman.
Anyway, I think Stevens isn't scared, his management isComment

Maybe it's me because I've seen more fighters accused of ducking guys in the last 10 years than in the 30 years before-since I've been watching boxing.Comment

It would be a duck but I wouldn't go as far as to call it ridiculous since financially I can see why they might leave it until next year. Stevens can really build his profile with KO wins making it a bigger fight in the future.
If Steven turns the fight down that would leave Sergio Mora in pole position...
BC: The other big middleweight that comes up Gennady Golovkin. Is a fight with him on your radar or a fight you’re interested in at all?
SM: At this point I’m pursuing whatever will put me in a position to win a title. Golovkin is a titlist but he’s not the best, Sergio Martinez is the best so I would like to fight the best. But if I get a crack at Golovkin, Quillin, or Daniel Geale I’m definitely there.
Golovkin, I’m not avoiding him. He is a power punching machine that comes forward. He’s a good guy that’s there for the taking. The only guy he fought against that impressed me was Matthew Macklin, he’s the only one I really give him credit for. Other than that, he’s just picking apart guys that stand right in front him, no real talent. No real guys that are giving him speed, angles, and body shots and push him backward. No legitimate middleweights up until Macklin. But, I don’t see anything special in Golovkin. Next he’ll be fighting Curtis Stevens. Curtis Stevens is a guy that’s been knocked out by a guy that had 14 wins, 12 losses. When he steps up to an elite fighter, he’s going to get chopped.Comment
