    Is Canelo's punching power overrated?

I think it is because he couldnt knockout Shane Mosley, but he knocked out all his other opponents with ease. Shane Mosley had the same come-forward style as all of Canelo's opponents. He landed over 50% of his power punches on Shane Mosley and he couldnt even knock him down.

I watched that fight the other night oddly enough. Mosley's got 8 losses now and none of them have come via knockout. His chin is solid.

Canelo also seemed content to pick up round experience in that fight. Patience on the road to a steady UD isn't a bad thing, as Shane has power himself as we've seen.

Mosley has never been stopped & I believe only knocked down 3 times in his career.

But yeah I feel Canelo's power is overrated. Hes a good puncher but that is about as far as it goes.

So Canelo's punching power is overrated because he's knocked out other opponents with ease except Shane Mosley?

Wouldn't that be attributed to Shane's legendary chin? Tell me, who else has stopped Shane Mosley?

edit: not saying I disagree with OP, but the way he worded his argument made no sense.

Not saying I disagree, I just think it's funny when someone says "he has no punching power even though he's knocked other people out with ease". I think perhaps referring to the Hatton fight would have been a much better point for his argument.

Canelo's chin, is what will do him vs Floyd. Dude almost got KOd in the first round vs Cotto's lW brother at a 150 catchweight!

I don't remember this. At one point, Mosley was clinging for his life. Punches rocked his head back in such a way....man, it was hard to watch.

I think it was the speed, explosiveness and angles that 'shook' Mosley against Pacquaio.

I don't feel it was a clear indicator that Manny hits harder than Canelo & there is different types of power. I'd say Canelo was more heavy handed but Pacquaio is a lot faster and hits you from crazy angles, shots you don't see coming, hes a southpaw too.
