Did I say the alternative would generate more money??? Did I say being Champion always guarantees big money??? I said the CHAMPION has the CHOICE and in many cases NOT going for the biggest immediate payday is the sensible choice. Once Alexander has fought Karass Khan will still be there in limbo and will have to come up with a better package. If you look at the history of Khan negotiations you will always see the opponents are accused of pricing themselves out and Team Khan being accused of low balling. When the fights are actually made the Khan opponent ALWAYS end up with more money than the original offer that Team Khan made. I have seen this pattern time and time again. It is up to Alexander to DECIDE what he feels is right for HIM when it is not a mandatory fight and it is very clear Team Khan are very difficult to negotiate with.Comment

There are so many things wrong with this post it's crazy. First off, Peterson made a career high purse of $650k vs Khan. They did negotiate for a while, as happens with all big fights, but this never went to purse bids.Alexander is the champion and title holder not Khan,he has other options. If he decides not to go ahead with the fight he has the title and can make another fight. It would be Khan who would be in limbo and Khan who needs this fight more than Alexander.
Peterson was low balled by team Khan and told he had priced himself out but had to enforce legal action to go to purse bids to get the money he wanted. The fact that he had to do that proves that the propaganda that he had priced himself out was BS. Peterson got his price for the second fight because he was CHAMPION just as Alexander is CHAMPION. Get the concept???
Alexander is the champion and it is the champion who holds the cards and has the upper hand in negotiations. Khan brings the opportunity for a big pay day and that is why he is jumping the Q to get a WW title shot despite never having fought at the weight. If Alexander feels financially the package is not worth it he has the right to refuse it as Khan is not MANDATORY,it is his choice and the pricing himself line is BS. It is up to Team Khan to put together a package that induces Alexander to take it. It is more a question of Team Khan pricing themselves in rather than Alexander pricing himself out and Alexander in this article makes it clear that negotiations are not as advanced as Team Khan have claimed.
With regards to the bold, that has to be one of the dumbest things i've ever read. The man with the money has the upper hand in the negotiations. Nobody cares about that paper belt, don't you get that? Alexander can't even sell 5k in his hometown, let alone try to dictate a guy who's been selling 20k in his hometown and been on PPV for most of his career.
"team alexander" aka Kevin Cunningham don't run shit as soon as they realize that the better.Comment

BTW, the Bradley and Peterson 2 negotiations with Khan were entirely different scenarios. Khan was desperate for both fights, so he caved in in the end. Khan is not that desperate for this Alexander fight. So is Schaefer.
So these clowns better stop playing hard to get or Alexander may end up losing his next fight with significantly less money.Last edited by Bullrider; 08-05-2013, 03:58 AM.Comment

That could apply to Khan just as easy. I don't know what's going on but I don't have any reason to believe one over the other because they've both taken on a crap load of champions for the number of fights they've had and both could be in line for May.Comment
