Look, I appreciate what you do, I've enjoyed quite a bit of your work. I especially liked how you broke down the rope-a-dope, but there is no way in hell Canelo is the second most skilled fighter in the sport. He is merely pretty good. But I agree, the title of this thread isn't the worst I've seen, just not good at all.

Rigondeaux, Ward, and even Mickey Garcia are all more fundamentally skilled than Canelo.

Didn't see this until today, but I got your back. I am a big Canelo fan. I don't think that statement is at all ridiculous. Canelo has the best variety of skills and when you attach that to his power. I rate him as highly as you. He is my favorite fighter, that includes Marquez, Ward, etc, etc. Most people aren't seeing all the nuances in his skill set, as you do.

He is being underestimated, but outcomes of fights aren't based on fan polls. I am sure glad about that. Opinions will shift when he beats Mayweather.

                This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I don't think Nelo is close to being the most skilled in the game...but the kid is good and he CAN fight

That's how you disagree and still keep it G...you clowns gonna learn though!!!..boxing nerds on here get intimidated by cats like Barry Robinson....I don't understand why being as though we all LOVE the sport....smh

Reading the posts in this thread it seems like many think that Canelo and skill don't belong in the same sentence.I think Canelo has excellent skill. I think he proved that in his fight with Trout just as Trout proved his skills in his fight with Cotto. How Canelo's skills compare with the great Floyd Mayweather's skills will be known on the evening of September 14th less than six weeks from now.

I think the title is there for the hits and the comment b/c its outrageous and will get people posting, but Canelo is still very skilled though. I mean in almost every fight Canelo is working on a new aspect of his game. I remember back in the day against Cotto's brother Canelo was working on the FMJ stance and he got stunned a little. Then in his last fight against Trout he was dodging and slipping kind of reminiscent of what DLH used to do in his hay days, and it's all on purpose with Canelo. He knows he's in control, he knows he can turn it up whenever he wants and he's so comfortable in there that he has the AUDACITY to work on things and experiment stuff that 99% of the boxers only do so in the gym. Even against Mosley, he was more of a puncher and less of a boxer and that's not Canelo at all, Canelo's a boxer. He was determined to be in close, fight behind a high guard and tear Mosley up on the inside with hooks and uppercuts. Exactly what Mosley used to do to opponents in his prime. Canelo was working on his defense while throwing body shots and uppercuts in close range. Canelo might not be the most skilled fighter, maybe not even top 10, but he's shown in his short career that he is a tremendous student and a very fast learner. Props for that to Canelo and to Barry for recognizing that. I have no idea how people consider Canelo a pressure fighter or toguh guy that will crowd you or wear you down, it's so far from the truth.

There's (at the very least) a dozen boxers more skilled, more experienced and therefore more suited for Floyd than 22yr old Canelo. Floyd knows that, anyone that knows the 1st thing about boxing knows that and we also know that's why Floyd picked him and why Floyd has to spends millions promoting his own opponent so as to make it half way believable (which is pretty ironic).
