Name some Modern day "throwback fighters".

When I think of the ideal Throwback fighters I think of Marciano, Sugar Ray Robinson, Marvin HAgler. Those guys were not they type of guys to be ducking or dodging anyone, they showed up to fight night in and night out. They don't have to be ATG like the ones I mentioned those were just examples. but Didn't matter if they won or lost they fough whoever the fans or the #1 contenders or the sanctioning bodies wanted. Those are the kind of fighters I always loved to watch. Who in your opinion are todays "throwbacks". I'd have to go with :
    Ward
    Cotto
    Matthyse
    Winky Wright

I think first you'd have to properly define 'throwback fighter' which I don't believe you have. You've intimated at a good few "face-first" fighters but that's not MY idea.

And when you say "throwback" how far are you throwing back?? How far have you strength (historical knowledge) to throw back. To me it sounds more like "throw-up"..

Many of the fighters you'vd hinted at have had to fight whoever they could find because they had to make a living. Which, after all is the BIG reason. Who wants to constantly have his face bashed in because he "likes" it?? If you know anyone like that, call the guys in the white coats and the padded vehicle.

Winky priced himself out of so many fights, it's insane. I'd love to say he's throw back, but he's not.

When is the last time Andre Ward fought? how long ago? Sorry, far from throw back.

As far as simply not ducking anybody...

Khan, Alexander, Rios, Maidana, Bradley... Matthysse, and Garcia so far... Thurman so far... Rigo fought the best fighter in his division, and his career just started... At that point, do u even call it "not ducking" when you've proven urself already?

                We'll see

I don't believe it for a second. unless, and this is just a guess, that when he feels he's getting hit, he then knows that there is money pouring in. Can't think of anything else. I've known hundreds of boxers and whilst they were prepared to take give and take a bit of punishment, it was all in good sportsmanship and if it became anyway heavy then it wasn't fun any more but hard, grinding work..

In the corner of the Alvarado fight he says " I love this **** ", I believe it. It's not about loving getting hit per say, it's about loving the adrenaline and excitement that comes with that type of fight. Why else would he constantly seek these type of fights and continue to fight in a way that gets him hit? He loves it and he loves a good scrap.
