I can see your argument with the Canelo fight but knowing Canelo himself won that title at 150 doesn't help any. The reason I say Margarito was the worst is for the fact that neither deserved to challenge for the belt.

It was a gimme title for Manny. Fight a guy who didn't look great after a long layoff, due to a suspension, then immediately get a title shot afterwards. This was a farce of a title fight.

I also didn't like that Cotto was a well established champion/fighter at WW and had to budge for the challenger. Cotto's a draw in himself so I don't think the catchweight should've been part of the fight. Just like I don't think it should be for Floyd-Canelo.

Sorry but Canelo is a full 154 fighter who wasn't even able to make the CW of 150 several years ago. He also fought Trout and came in at 153.5 and ballooned to 172. Not one but two 154 titles were on the line.

If you have 2 fighters with 3 titles amongst them and one asks for a CW then in my books that is worse than seeing two guys who are relatively new to the weight class agree to a CW. Both were questionable but the question was which was worse. Now add the fact that Floyd kept on saying that CWs drains fighters, for me, it's a no brainer.

Like I said many times before, I wished that Manny would have fought Cotto at 147 because it wouldn't have made a difference but I do see why it happened since Manny was at 130 the previous year and Cotto was his first true WW opponent. So Cotto gave him those 2lbs considering that Manny had moved up several divisions recently (130 to 147) ....

I don't think you understand the effects of a major jump in weight on the fighter making the move , you just playing technical word games .

My biggest complaint was that there was no need for the 150 lb title fight with Margarito at all. Neither had a notable win at JRMW whatsoever. Manny was a top 2 p4p fighter so I'm ok with him fighting for a title at any weight class, but the caliber of opponent he chose was one of the worst at that particular moment. I'm not an apologist for Floyd/Canelo at all. I disagree with this being for all the belts at 152. It's simply comical

With that, Margarito didn't deserve a championship fight. That fight for that crowning achievement for Manny, to me, was a farce. What Floyd did to JMM was the 2nd worst crock of ****. Then Manny-Cotto & Floyd-Canelo can go either way depending on how you look at it
