I'm not sold on Thurman yet. He was getting out gunned in a toe to toe battle with Chaves. From there he was forced to move. I think he would get out gunned by Broner in a toe to toe battle, but I also think Broner would cut the ring off better than Chaves as well.

I wouldn't put money on this fight because I'm not "that" convinced yet, but if I had to make a pick, I would go with Broner at 147.

Have you ever thought that maybe, just maybe Chavez's power and ko % is the real deal?? Yeah he was getting outgunned by a 50 cal. That can happen. Broner on the other hand couldn't put away PDL, hmmm.

I stand corrected. (The Berto fight is still fresh in my mind.) You're right. Guerrero was at the receiving end of Katsidis' pressure, if I remember correctly.

Thurman versus Broner might actually get made since Haymon would have nothing to lose if the belt changed hands. I like Thurman, he seems to have a **** em all attitude and will step into the ring against anyone!

I think Chaves has good power. I don't doubt that.

PDL fight was years ago and Malignaggi has never been KO'd. He's been TKO'd, corner/ref stoppage, but not "on the floor and can't get up" KO'd.

But just like you use the PDL reference, why not use the fact that Broner stopped DeMarco also?

We can't necessarily measure Broner's power at 147 just "yet". Stopping Malignaggi via KO is no easy feat. TKO, sure, but not KO.

I'm not sure Chaves could stop Malignaggi either who is the stronger fighter than Thurman toe to toe.

We can measure Thurman's power though, he is known for his early to mid round power and now he's proven that he can carry that power to the later rounds. Against a quality opponent as well. "One time" also showed that he can adjust, yes, he was getting the shorter end of a toe to toe battle but he showed the grit/toughness to adjust mid fight and turn the momentum in his favor. Something that Broner hasn't really shown yet especially in the Malinaggi/ PDL fight. Broner struggled at times against Paulie without the threat of serious return fire, Thurman overcame heavy artillery and showed what he's made of. Thurman has shown he's the more capable welter while Broner still has question marks at 147.

I think it's an interesting fight. Broner to me is the better boxer with faster hands. Size strength and all around toughness would be in Thurman's corner. I'd go with "one time" with the late stoppage.

Absolutely. Thurman is the more proven WW, but I think Broner is the more proven fighter.

But yes, Thurman is definitely the more proven WW.

You guys make good points. But like I said, I have to see Broner at WW one more time to really be sure.

I'm just not sold on Thurman yet. I'm sorry. I feel like he's Andre Berto waiting to happen.

Thurman's power is not yet "proven" though against top opposition. Neither is Broner's at WW.

Berto had like 24 wins with 20 KO's at WW before running into Victor Ortiz
