In my humble opinion the best thing that could have happened to him was the stoppage loss to Rubio FOLLOWED by the embarrassing points loss to Alcine - who hasn't beaten anyone else this decade.
The latter loss will have taught him that a man, who has been stopped twice in the 1st round recently - can have the skills to outbox you if you just load up.
One of my all time favourites is Nigel Benn who learnt more from his loss to Michael Watson than he did from his previous 22 kayo wins (19 inside the distance - a very similar record).
I'm not saying that Lemieux can achieve half of what Benn did but I'd like to see him do well. Big punchers are always a welcome addition to the sport plus the fans from that area of Canada far outsrtip anything the USA has to offer these days. Which is sad.
