Will David Lemieux Be A Success?

In my humble opinion the best thing that could have happened to him was the stoppage loss to Rubio FOLLOWED by the embarrassing points loss to Alcine - who hasn't beaten anyone else this decade.

The latter loss will have taught him that a man, who has been stopped twice in the 1st round recently - can have the skills to outbox you if you just load up.

One of my all time favourites is Nigel Benn who learnt more from his loss to Michael Watson than he did from his previous 22 kayo wins (19 inside the distance - a very similar record).

I'm not saying that Lemieux can achieve half of what Benn did but I'd like to see him do well. Big punchers are always a welcome addition to the sport plus the fans from that area of Canada far outsrtip anything the USA has to offer these days. Which is sad.

I think he was deff heading that way before he got stopped. HBO was looking at getting him a debut date. I think he has the tools to be a star and I hope he continues working on his craft and puts it all together.

Depends does he have a new trainer? It's hard to see somebody comeback any different if he has the same trainer teaching him the same thing. He needs to learn how to adjust if his power shots aren't landing and not get discouraged. He needs a plan B. I do agree he could definitely comeback strong if he learns not to rely so heavily on his power. Not everybody is going to fold so he needs to find ways to get around it if it happens.

I don't like to write off fighters unless they annoy me and he's definitely not annoying so I like to hope for the best unlike half the noobs around here who call fighters shot after a loss.

Alcine loss is tough. He won't win a world title, but hw can still find a way to.get onto.cards by continuing getting kos of lessee opposition

Any active boxer of his age still has the potential and capability to improve, it's just a question of whether he dedicates himself enough to his training, and if he's with the right team of people who have the skills and expertise to detect and address flaws.

I don't think he'll ever be a top 10 fighter. Macklin/Vera are fringe top 10 fighters, and I think Lemiux would get stopped against both.

I hope he can do some damage in the division still, he is only young after all. A young fighter can always learn from and comeback better from a loss, especially the type's he took where it wasn't a brutal sustained beating. That said he will never be the fighter i thought he was gonna be, one of the biggest busts in recent memory for me - i thought he looked special.

I would like to see Lemiuex vs. Bursak/Stevens/Lee. KO'ing your opposition in a couple rounds probably means that you need to step it up.

The issue with David, at least from some previous reports, is he does not put 100% into his training and development.

His last trainer, Russ Anber, tried to change him around. He even got David to train and Spar with Sergio Martinez in the hope that David would pick up on the work ethic.

He has a new trainer now who is working with him, but David is also suffering continuous hand injuries which is just compounding his development.

He has the power to flatten anyone, but he is such a predator in the ring, that if a guy can weather his attack early, David tires out and becomes very vulnerable mentally. He needs to learn how to pace himself and also know when to attack. he has to mix it up. Bring a balanced attack
