He looked great and had a great opponent infrint of him. Thurman made great adjustments but Chaves was right there with him to the point almost every round after the first two was a toss up. Then Chaves seemed to gas a bit (Showtime mentioned a long layoff or something? Whateves) but then Thurman landed a BRUTAL body shot. Chaves was saved by the bell but he came out with his left arm glued to his stomach then Thurman landed practically the same shot to body and Chaves just didnt pick it back up and shortly fell after a pretty good headshot (though he seemed to go down from the body). Thurmans preparation won him this one but Chaves made some fans. He beats some top 147 guys from what I saw.

These guys exchange HUGE shots to the body and head up until the knockdown it was a great matchup. They might end up fighting again some day.

Edit: I think it was his RIGHT arm he ha glued to him..its too big a pain in the ass to correct all this on my phone

Meh....I'm not impressed. Lucas, Soto Karass, and Maidana would beat him fairly easily.

He would hurt Broner to the body and would have no issues taking his power. Thurman is also the superior mover and I think you have to bear in mind the size difference too, Thurman has fought at light middleweight. I don't give AB much of a chance at all in that fight.

If Broner leaves 147, he needs to stay gone then, and stay at 135 or 140 to pick up some real good wins. I'm a lot more skeptical of Broner after the Paulie fight. He struggled way too much with Paulie for me to be 100% all in on him.

If he stays at 147, I'd like to see him fight Maidana.

I wouldn't say struggled. I missed the first round but I heard they were slugging it out. When I tuned it around the 3rd I saw Thurman playing it safe and defensively. It seemed to me like he was letting Chaves do most of the work and letting him tire out. (Chaves did look like the bigger fighter to me). Then Thurman started being more aggressive I'd say around the 6th. He finally went to the body and dropped Chaves for the first time. Then you know what happened after that.

How heavy handed is Thurman? Chaves' elbow stopped some of the momentum from that body shot and he still got dropped.

Like a guy that will be avoided at Welterweight and will be Forced to move up to 154 most likely

Thurman has the talent to be COMPLETE BOXER! He is only 24 Years Old so he haven't even reached his full Potential yet so yeah it is a few things he can improve upon but so far...VERY IMPRESSIVE! Power, Speed, Boxing Skills, Chin, Size, SMARTS! Very Scary and Rare Combination of talent! He said he always had Power but clearly working with Winky Wright and others he learned how to also BOX and also how to defend avoid punches instead of just coming face forward and looking for the early KO
