I think the primary difference between Duran and Floyd is their fighting mentality. Floyd is very risk averse, a safety-first technician who has forged his career in a similar manner. Duran, on the down side after his LW reign, had the balls to challenge these beasts at 147, 154 and 160 (I could NEVER imagine Floyd calling out Hagler). The Panamanian lost most of these fights (and won a few actually), BUT AT LEAST HE LOST IN THE RING USING HIS FISTS. He didn't need no stinkin' vacations. Part of the reason why he's considered an ATG without question. This thread of 800+ posts indicates not everybody feels the same way about Floyd's resume.
I understand what you're saying, and I have nothing against Duran personally because he's entitled to say and feel whatever he wants, but his statements shouldn't diminish or minimize what Floyd is accomplishing in the sport right now. Style preference is just that, a preference and Ive seen Floyd got to war, and Ive seen him box fighters ears off as well. Just because he didn't fight in a era 30 years ago or in a style complimentary to a certain fans preference, doesn't make him any less of a competitor or ATG than any of the guys that did.

Hardest puncher i would concede, but the others are subjective. You can make an argument for Benny Leonard or maybe Whitiker if you feel like debating.

for the bold,, then why is there a catchweight of 152..

and why did floyd gone on several retirements,,,
Do you realize Manny was weighing close to 147 on fight night when fighting at 130-135 , do you realize Manny has outweighed his opponents on fight night in 90% of his career fights .

Why are you attacking Floyd from any irrelevant angle you can find , apply the same questions to Manny , your showing what a Floyd hater you really are .

I keep saying it , you cannot rag on Floyd and then praise Manny no matter how you want to spin it .

The interesting thing is that if it wasnt of the 15 rounds fight Hearns would have won a UD. 15 rounds is insane when you think about it, you need to be a conditioning monster to fight 15 rounds (if you ever fought youll know what I mean)

Yes i have fought but only amateur.. in the army and out of the peoria athletic club....

and yes, 15 rounds would have been crazy to fight, especially looking across the ring at a prime undefeated hearns who nodody had touched yet so we didnt know about his chin problems.....

SRL got some big iron balls
