Does that make Duran ordinary as well?
no,,styles make for different fights. I just think srl and hearns had the style to beat floyd. I also think duran would have a good chance with his constant pressure altho I could also see floyd out pointing him. dont get me wrong I think floyd would be very competitve in that era,,but hed both win and lose some fights. he wouldnt be undefeated. not in that great era

Problem is, in Duran's era.... it's very possible Floyd wouldn't have gone up to 147 with the like of SRL, Hearns, Benitez and the likes up there.

Ranking Floyd in Duran's era would have ONLY depended on who he beat. He could have all the talent in the world, but face it, if he doesn't beat any legitimate champs or elite challengers of the late 70s, early 80s by actually facing them, nobody would take notice.

Would the Floyd we know of this era, face the best of Duran's era?
This sensible post asks the core question. IMO, Floyd would've fought the best for the big paydays. And suffered losses as a WW. But at 135-140, the PBF who demolished N'dou goes undefeated earning less money and acclaim.

Thats how u know hes a fanboy when his arguement is no one he ducked could beat him. Anyone objective could admit guys like prime Margarito Tszyu or Pacquio have a chance at beating Mayweather or whoever. Even if he were favored u don't know whats going to happen ay that level. And then to act like its just a coincidence all the tough fights didn't happen but somehow the easy fights were always made. SMH that guy is a bum sniff

You're talking AFTER the fact. Floyd has fought tough fighters, they just weren't as good as the big 4. So what, this is his era. Nobody that he is accused of ducking could beat him. It's all accusations. Nobody screamed Mike McCallums name back then either when the big 4 were around. Didn't Mike deserve some love? Oh, no money in a fight with Mike right. Hypocrites.
Here's frank ducketts on this thread.

No, but to say he would be ordinary in that era is silly.

Given floyd's skill set, speed and stamina he'd be good in any era, especially when there was 15 rds.The issue for floyd would be the original weight classes.

He'd be ok because of same day weigh ins given he is never really out of shape. But once he had a problem making 135 he would have spent a long time at 147 as a really small ww.

He may make it out of 135 undefeated but definitely not 147.

Agreed on that. But even then Duran was an ATG before moving to welteweight so Floyd could conceivably be one as well before the losses to Hearns, etc.

                    • Floyd would have been a really good fighter,,,
he would be like alexis arguello

I wonder how floyd's brittle hands would have held up in an era when you fought like once a month
