Duran has always been an arrogant sh^t, but you can't deny that overall level of talent has dipped a fair deal in the last thirty years. Even beyond the big names, you still had a sublime technician in Donald Curry and a slick counter-puncher in Marlon Starling, who was every bit as fine a defensive boxer as Mayweather is.

First off, he probably wouldn't have been fighting at 147 though, same with Manny.

Mayweather and Pacquiao are natural welterweights. They compete at a weight class in which they cut very little weight, and where they put on very little weight in the time from the actual weigh-in and the fight itself.

He refused to fight Hatton at 140, and made him move up to 147.

Duran only beat Sugar Ray Leonard because Leonard stood right in front of him. You failed to discredit that guys point. The fact is Duran couldn't handle anyone who would use defense or circle around the ring. Once Leonard used movement in the second fight Duran couldn't do ****.

Floyd would be too much for Duran. Unless Floyd fought Duran the way he did Cotto I don't see anyway Duran could win.

well he did face the top dog at 135 after moving up from 130. and when he did move up to 147 there really wasnt a clear cut top dog at all, not like what duran had in leonard. at 140 the top dog was probably tszyu but that fight didnt have a chance to happen with both fighters being obligated to different networks. there is some truth to the whole, duran beat leonard thing tho. duran did beat leonard the first time they fought in a very close fight.

this is true but the thing is its schewed. because no fighters fight at their natural weigh class anymore. even back then, leonard and hearns were probably natural swws more than they were wws. just the way its become.

The bolded shows your ignorance. You've obviously never even seen the 2nd Duran/Leonard bout, and are merely reciting the bias pro-Leonard opinion you've seen on Ray's 'Beyond the Glory' episode, or have seen others spew here.

The second Duran/Leonard bout was actually quite close and competitive at the time Duran quit.

As for what Duran said, I disagree somewhat. I do think Mayweather is a special fighter, but he most certainly wouldn't be undefeated if he was mixing it up with the fab four. Nobody goes through those guys with their record unscathed.
