I'm tellin ya, man. I watched Duran in his prime, along with Sugar Ray, Hearns, and all the rest. And I've watched Pac and May in this era. I watched Duran get popped by SRL and not be able to get to SRL because SRL boxed him. Floyd is a better defender than SRL so I just don't see it.

I'd rank the Welters all time like this:

    1. Floyd - because of his defense, conditioning and chin.

    2. SRL - fast, combo puncher and heart of a lion but limited Defense.

    3. Hearns - lightning fast, and KO power, but lacked stamina.

    4. Duran - tough brawler, but problems with speed and great boxers.

    5. Pacman - fast, good power, but would be outclassed by all the guys above him, imo.

Edit: Modern day. Obviously SRR was right up at the top but I can't comment on him because I didn't see him outside of some highlights.

I stopped reading after I read that he scored the De La Hoya fight a draw. I think it's fair to say that the man has taken too many punches to the head because that was a clear-as-day win for Floyd, not close at all. Another thing, Esteban DeJesus, Ray Leonard and Wilfred Benitez all boxed circles around Duran and none of them was as hard to hit, as skilled or as smart as Mayweather. Floyd would have frustrated the hell out of him. A prime and in shape Duran probably would've given Floyd a tougher time than anybody in today's era has, but Floyd would've just been too hard of a puzzle for him to solve. Nearly every time Duran went up against someone with comparable skill to Floyd he came up short and usually by some distance too, so anyone who thinks he would have just dominated or beat Floyd easily is just foolish.

I think he would have been a great lightweight but would not have been able to move up in weight like he has

I don't think Floyd would have gone up to 147 in that era. He wouldn't be ordinary though.

Everybody is talking about duran at welter,,, do you realize the dude was in his 30's with over 70 fights when he was at welter,,,,,

Duran was ATG at lightweight,, skills, power, heart, desire, stamina, dude was a madman

He would beat the hell out of anhy lightweight in history,,, at welter not so much

                  Exactly
It's well known his style would have been a nightmare for Duran
The dude couldn't handle anyone who wouldn't walk into him

You don't have to take Duran's word for it. You people have your own little brains to decide and see for yourselves. See them all on Youtube like we young people do. SRL's best moments in boxing are miles away from the notorious ducker's. I repeat you don't have to employ your silly little immature fanaticism and see it for yourselves.

id favor duran over floyd at lightweight, but id favor floyd over duran at welterweight quite heavily.
