Problem for me.......I actually like both. I do think Mayweather would win, but Floyd has fought one guy in particular that was a pressure fighter with speed similar to his that he struggled with. He won by a wide margin...but rounds were close and without the volume and influence of announcers, was really a fight he didn't gain control of until the 8th-9th round.
But Floyd has gotten better since then.
As for Floyd avoiding competition at all costs.......that's nonsense. He's made choices to fight Hatton when he could have fought Margarito or Cotto or retired when he could have fought the winner of their fight.......but that's his choice and does anyone really think he had 'fear' of Margarito? Really??
Nor is Manny 'scared' of fighting Mayweather.......the primary problem with that fight is egos and promoters having FAR too much say.......I wish they were relegated to what their title suggests........like Don King with the 'Rumble in the Jungle'......Ali put him in his place SEVERAL times in that buildup.
I am fans of both. Manny is UNBELIEVABLE........Mayweather is RIDICULOUS.......if you threw both in the 80's, I still say their after-thoughts in that era to 'the big four' like Benitez is.......that isn't a knock.........Pacquiao fans are not catching Duran's bigger point....Floyd would be great but because there were so many fighters that were finishers that put on inspiring KO wins.....he wouldn't be the top earner. But the comp may have changed his approach some........
Mayweather fans are also reading this as a diss........it's not.
Too much sensitivity. I'd have much rather watched Mayweather fight Margarito than Baldomir.......but understand why he didn't......and why he broke from Arum......he was going for the big cash and to get to where he is now.......He looked out for himself and his family rather than fight Cotto or Margarito............I'd have done the same. I'd much rather have seen the other fights.......but you can't hold that against Mayweather.
Pacquiao has fought tougher competition ONLY because he's closer to their level as far as being 'gifted'.......Mayweather is much more polished and gifted......Manny hits harder.
And Floyd's choice to fight Alvarez is VERY smart......If I were him, I'd take Khan next for big $$ in England, then Pac for the climax.......then the money for Showtime is made and he picks is last 2-3 opponents and NOBODY can say anything about his choice in opponents. He is a SMALL WW compared to Leonard/Hearns and to fight at MW would be foolish when he walks around at 150.....
Pacquiao has fought guys that were specifically picked for their styles. So is Rios. Arum is trying to cash out on that cow until it's used up, then he'll agree to Mayweather...but I really wish Pac would do what Cotto did and when he refuses to make the fight with Mayweather, which Pacquiao clearly wants, do what Cotto did and walk............
Mayweather and to a lesser extent, Roy Jones have started the 'promote yourself' situation and were successful. Oscar works with Floyd and giving the fighter's more say and pushing for the tougher fights in our out of house is a good thing..............

Man Floyd would be great in any era.
He is hands down one of the most skilled fighters of all time, and his defense is top 3 of all time.
Da f)vk you mean he would be ordinary?
Anybody who knows me, knows I'm no fan of Floyd, but the hate he gets is ridiculous.
