floyd is great, but overrated, he can't handle intelligent pressure, lost vs castillo, and was getting worked by hatton and cotto but both have crap stamina

and yes, although hatton wasn't the most clever in the ring, his gameplan was solid enough(fient the right, throw a straight left to negate the shoulder roll), a little more defense and if his stamina wasn't so poor he could have taken floyd to hell

I dont know about Hatton. I felt Floyd was beating his azz real bad, for rushing in. As far as Cotto and Castillio goes, Floyd complained about a shoulder injury from the SECOND round. Its not like he made it up as an excuse near the end of the fight. Against Cotto Floyd was overtrained. He looked TERRIBLE. Cotto is shot, short, and slow. I didnt think Cotto did good, I felt Floyd did BAD.

The onus is on you not me. You're the one trying to make the argument that Floyd's weakness is being attacked to the body. Is the 1st Castillo fight from 11 years ago where he complained of being injured from almost te very beginning the best that you can do? If so, then you haven't done very much to prove your argument.

Dude is not the best i could do is a fact. Since 11 years have passed he hasnt faced a good body puncher with good chin. There is a reason when pbf selects his opponents he avoids that thpe of fighter. And i do understand floyds shoulder injury but that is part of the game not because he was injured he deserved to be saved by the judges. Same like with berto which it looked like he was going to be saved until soto knocked his ass out. I admired bertos courage and heart but that shoulder injury is part of the game if bertos shoulder would of been healed i taught he would of won that fight maybe ko karas.

You're blinded by hate to the extent you are letting that cloud your judgement. I'm not saying that Floyd is a better fighter than SRL, but it doesn't take a genius to know that SRL's defensive technique wasn't as fluidly fundamentally sound as guys like, Willie Pep, Pernell and Floyd. He had great footwork[his best defense attribute], and was a better all-around offensive fighter than Floyd, but I'm not impressed with his defensive technique as i am with guys like Pernell and Floyd.

Willie Pep And Sweet Pea fought far better fighters than Floyd has. You can't compare Floyd's defense against b level fighters to Rays against bonified atg's and a level fighters. That's not blind hate, that's common friggin sense.

I think most posters agree that floyd would be good in any era.....But if he was in the late 70's early 80's he would have been good but never would have been undefeated top draw in boxing like he is today... he would have stayed at 140 or below,,, and he would have only gone to welter to cash out and get manhandled by SRL and HEarns....

I bet ray Robinson era said that about Duran's era.

Floyds era will say that about future champions.
