Oh to dream
Did you honestly say you would favor floyd over hagler.....
SRL and Hearns both beat up floyd,,, he would hang with SRL but would lose a descision...
Hearns puts floyd to sleep after jabbing him into submission,,, nobody ever outboxed hearns,,, a smaller floyd would not do it...
If floyd fought back then he would have had a career like alexis arguello and pryor,,, he would have been really good,, but not the face of boxing or the GOAT like people try and portray him as today....
Hell donald curry, marlon starling, mancini, meldrick taylor, sweet pea, all would have given floyd hell...

Funny, because his actual comments at the time contradict such a claim.

Hagler-Duran was about as close as Mayweather-De La Hoya was - basically, not close at all. Don't confuse a competitive fight with a close one.Last edited by prinzemanspopa; 07-28-2013, 03:31 PM.

I think Floyd would have had a much different career. Without those 30 million dollar guarantees he probably takes more chances and fights all the top guys instead of cherry picking to protect the 0. Would he be undefeated? Probably not but he might be more respected and have a better legacy. When Floyd retires outside of his die hard fans most people will talk about the fights that he didn't take then his actual work inside the ring.

True. He wouldn't even be P4P cause he would be too busy cherrypicking while the best were fighting the best.

I'd rank the Welters all time like this:
1. Floyd - because of his defense, conditioning and chin.
2. SRL - fast, combo puncher and heart of a lion but limited Defense.
3. Hearns - lightning fast, and KO power, but lacked stamina.
4. Duran - tough brawler, but problems with speed and great boxers.
5. Pacman - fast, good power, but would be outclassed by all the guys above him, imo.
Edit: Modern day. Obviously SRR was right up at the top but I can't comment on him because I didn't see him outside of some highlights.
There was no point in reading further.
