This is a good opponent for Brook at this moment in time, afterwards he should push for a title shot next and if not a good name on your resume would be Berto despite his loss this weekend would come to fight and give Brook much needed experience.

you had a title shot and disgracefully ducked it. are you waiting for a bum like baldomir to come around so you can finally become a man? unfortunately i don't see any luckboxes like baldomir coming around for a while because the division is too good and deep. how hard do you think brook was praying for purdy to beat alexander? i bet he would have been ready for a shot if purdy won.

Both Hearn and Brook know once he comes through this he needs a massive world level fight. The fans are getting impatient.

He should come through it fairly easily but it's all about levels, you can't go from an injury, to Carson Jones in a tune up, to the top guys in the world.

Having said that this really has to be the final stepping stone for Brook, he needs to deal with this guy and then properly step up. It's now or never for me.

Brook has to be hoping Alexander beats Khan in December cos if Khan wins he ridiculously gets a Mayweather shot.
Trust me, they are dying for Khan to win. Brook will be the mandatory for Khan's belt. Mayweather most likely will fight the Matthysse-Garcia winner first and Eddie Hearn will force through that IBF mandatory.

              It has to be.

Kell is ready for the world level fighters, this should be the final step. If Khan beats Boring Alexander, they have played this perfectly as Khan-Brook is the fight that will be required.

And at the same time, if Brook was to lose against someone like Maidana for example, he can say "bye-bye" to a mega fight vs Khan.

So it makes plenty of sense to me to make this fight. It's a tougher fight than people make out, it's his biggest test. But not big enough to upset him so the Khan fight could still happen.
