All combatants for Showtime’s televised tripleheader successfully made weight in advance of Saturday’s show at the AT&T Center in San Antonio.
Andre Berto and Jesus-Soto Karass both came in at the welterweight limit of 147 lb. in a main event that offers must-win stakes for each side of the equation.
Berto (28-2, 22KO) has lost two of his last three, the latter a 12-round decision to Roberto Guerrero last November. The showdown with Guerrero was preceded by a 14-month layoff, most of which was due to a canceled rematch with Victor Ortiz after being caught with a banned substance during pre-fight random drug testing.
