Comments Thread For: Brook vs. Senchenko is Finalized For October 26th

Kell Brook will face Vyacheslav Senchenko at the Motorpoint Arena Sheffield on October 26, live on Sky Sports.

The unbeaten Sheffield welterweight moved to 30-0 with his 20th stoppage at the MS3 Craven Park in Hull earlier this month, dispatching his ‘nemesis’ Carson Jones in eight rounds.

Senchenko is familiar to British fight fans having stopped Ricky Hatton in the Manchester man’s comeback fight in November. The Ukrainian took the WBA title from Yuriy Nuzhnenko in April 2009, defending the belt three times before his sole defeat on his 34 fight record to Paulie Malignaggi in April 2012.

Another lesser opponent for Brook. Seems like he's happy facing guys outside of the top 10 for the forseeable future.

        It's a meh fight.
Senchenko a former world champ who beat Hatton recently.... but was badly exposed in the Paulie fight.
It's a good fight for him in Sheffield to make some money and add a former "titlist" to his resume.

Its pretty clear that Brook isn't ready for any of the top guys at 147. This is a decent fight IMO for both fighters. They both have a lot to prove if they want to be considered a threat to anyone at 147. Im not really high on either of these guys but I like Senchenko because I won a big bet on the Hatton fight.

Julio Diaz would have served as a better opponent.

So this was the big announcement?

What a joke. The guy is 27 years old and still hasn't fought anybody of note.

In comparison, Khan was 22 when he became world champion.
