I gave him a pass with Perez but this potential match-up is a huge waste of time and effort. I've been waiting for years to see Gamboa in a big match-up but I think the time has come to give up on him, at 31 he ain't getting any younger.

Gamboa's in a bad spot . It's not worth it for other promoters to give him a big fight cause if he wins , then they lose . Look at rigo / Donaire and they have the same promoter . Fifty must have to beg for fights and then gets stuck with no names and if gamboa loses the fight the other promoter builds a star on that. U know , business .

Probably is true that Gamboa has lost his better years when he had his problems with the promoters but some few, mainly Cubans, had the character to confront their promoters for a fair price. Gamboa has said that he was willing to fight Rios but for a right purse. The same happened to Franco when he denied to fight for $10,000 for a Belt fight ( mainly a fast food part time salary). Something similar is happening also with Rigondeaux that has been asking for a biggest share os the revenues with Arum. The problem is that the other boxers has no respect for theirselves and accept any coins for the fight. Gamboa did right at that time with Rios, even thought now has a price to pay when the promoters have been blocking him to get good fighters

Wow, a seriously deluded post. Gamboa was gonna make $1.1m for Rios. Let me know next time he makes half that much. Did you ever notice his career stalled after he made that move you're so proud of? If he'd beaten a badly drained Rios, a whole world of opportunities would have opened up.

Franco is fighting a much tougher guy next for the same money and no belt. Seems like you don't have your countrymen interest in mind at all.
