“Trainer of the Year” Robert Garcia has praised Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions headed by CEO Richard Schaefer for putting on a sensational fight card headlined by the Floyd Mayweather Jr vs. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez at the MGM Grand Garden Arena on September 14.
Garcia told BoxingScene.com/Manila Standard “I honestly take my hat off to Golden Boy Promotions for doing the Danny Garcia-Lucas Mathysse fight on the undercard.”
He said “I cannot believe that fight is on the card. This is a fight that would fill the MGM Grand by itself. They don’t need this fight to sell tickets. If they put it on the same day at the Mandalay Bay, Golden Boy would have made money because both places would be filled up.”
