Comments Thread For: 9/14 Becomes Boxing's New Gold(en Boy) PPV Standard

The final four months of the 2013 boxing season look more and more promising with each addition. Within a span of less than a month, three of the biggest fights that can realistically be made will take place – two of which will take place on the same show.

Three weeks prior to the long awaited (though not necessarily anticipated) Oct. 5 heavyweight clash between Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin, 2013 will see its biggest event – by far – take center stage in the boxing capital of the world. Tickets have already been sold out for the September 14 showdown between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. Their PPV headliner at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas has already established a box-office record, with the live gate total estimated in the neighborhood of $19.5 million.

The Lucas/Danny fight will push the ppv sales from 1.5 to 2mil easy, Golden Boy did a great job and this is why Mexican fighters are the top dogs in PPV

you think Danny/Matthyse pushes this card up by 500,000???? Really? lol and as far as Mexican fighters being the top dogs in ppv, I think you're a little misinformed, I can't think of any mexican fighters headlining any ppv's as A-sides. The top dogs are Floyd, Pacquiao and Cotto. Those are the guys who are doing the numbers.

"We didn't need to do this. Tickets are sold out. This is without question a thank-you to the fight fans and an attempt to bring new fans to the sport,” Schaefer said in making the fight.

it's a 'my bad' for the other crap ppvs...but an accepted gesture...thank you, GBP

Being how they just added Luke and Danny, I doubt they put I another big fight. Probably a couple of Mayweather promotion bums.

Neither Lucas nor Danny are Mexican. Not sure where you're going with this.

Who cares! I would be happy if it was just these two fights! Best card in many many years
