I've already googled it and Cotto has stated that he wants to finish his career with Top Rank.

He says it in the video below which was from a few weeks ago:

I guess their's a chance that he'll change his mind but he doesn't seem like the type that would go back on his word.

EDIT: Steve Kim just chimed in on Twitter with this.
"Ok, is Cotto a 'free agent' or not? I hear differing things. If he is, if HBO paid over $3 million with no futures, people should be fired"

I guess we'll just have to wait and see...

    • This is typical HBO get a star and have him beat ESPN guy so less intelligent fans think he's the p4p king, see Golovkin or Crawford. Showtime turned down this fight for a reason, good performance but don't overreact.

Are you kiddin? Cotto is an example of a boxer who goes back on his word. You think he got sued for 2 million for nothing? What happened to Pedro Diaz? And it's verbal, not a contract. Cotto will go back on his word easily if it benefits him more to do so. And he'd be a fool not to anyway.

Well he agreed to fight Manny at 145 than complained about it and he said Margorito wouldn't make any more money off him than fought him so let's not act like his word is bond.

Our point was Cotto is in fact a free agent, he is, I bet he won't turn down a 5 million dollar guarantee for Canelo or Floyd.

          • I think there were a lot of questions about Cotto so the expectations were low. Maybe Delvin wasn't at his level but we haven't seen this version of Cotto since before Margarito. I don't think anyone ever thought of Cotto as the most highly skilled but he used to bring it and we hadn't seen that in a while. Tonight he brought it.

It's a good story. A new trainer, he got back to basics, his mechanics are back. Who doesn't want to see his next fight?

Yesterday Canelo would end his career and Cotto would cash out. Now maybe Cotto is more than just a money fight.

Seriously Cotto's next fight is probably the biggest draw of any other potential matchups.

Boxing is a cut throat business, good people who help boxers always get screwed by the Top guys. Manny might end up leaving 100 million on the table because he was to kind to Arum.

                • Its just a win, not really a good win a confidence builder/showcase, I mean Delvin was there to be demolished he is an ESPN level fighter. He is good at that level but no world class talent.

He certainly has something left, but losing two straight fights will start the internet chatter. While Miguel looked great, it was still only Delvin Rodriguez.
