Comments Thread For: Chisora vs. Pulev Showdown is Ordered By The EBU

Dereck Chisora has been declared the mandatory challenger to European Heavyweight Champion Kubrat Pulev.

The Finchley star is back on hot form following his sixth round knockout of unbeaten American Malik Scott on Saturday night at Wembley Arena to claim the WBO International title.

Chisora’s promoter Frank Warren has added the 29-year-old to the big Copper Box Arena show on Saturday 21st September that features Billy Joe Saunders’ British Middleweight title showdown against rival John Ryder.

Kubrat, from Bulgaria, is unbeaten in 17 fights with 9 knockouts. He won the title in May year by knocking out Alexander Dimitrenko in eleven rounds and then knocked out Alexander Ustinov in September in eleven rounds in the first defence.

Good match up stylistically, Pulev is a quality boxer and a much trickier opponent than Wilder.

Would love that fight, but don't see it happening. Way too risky for Pulev, when he's waiting on a title shot for probably early next year.

This fight is not going to happen. Chisora isn't ranked by the IBF.

Pulev-Thompson will be the IBF final eliminator.

Chisora will likely fight either Richard Towers (EBU #5) or Denis Boytsov (WBO #1, EBU #3) for the vacant EBU title.

Boytsov would be ideal for Chisora, he would have a shot at the EBU title, and a shot at becoming Wlad's WBO mandatory.

            Everyone is ducking Pulev.

As Freedom says, he'll likely vacate and fight Thompson. That way he becomes mandatory for Wlad.

I'd love to see this fight -- make it happen.

              SOMEBODY PLEASE FIGHT PULEV!

Thought IBF made him mandatory anyway after Fury declined their fight?

No, and he's still not mandatory after Jennings declined (his promoter Peltz wouldn't even put in a purse bid).

Now Pulev and Sauerland are just waiting for the IBF to approve Thompson-Pulev as the final eliminator before making an official announcement.

Solis holds the IBF intercontinental belt. I don't see him in the IBF top 10. If they are not up to date i'm surprised he isn't considered for the eliminator. Thompson has been the IBF mandatory twice & lost. I would love to see this fight but as others have said. It has vacate written all over it
