Matthysse fights Judah................knocks Judah down, very close fight with a questionable SD outcome in favor of Judah.

Garcia fights Judah...............knocks Judah down, gets his head split open, almost gets dropped...wins a UD.

Unfortunately, idiots in NSB think you need a shoulder roll in order to be considered a defensively sound fighter. You don't have to be flashy to be a great defensive fighter.

gonna shoulder roll these haters. maybe throw in a check left hook, nawmean.

i don't think lucas is any technician beyond what he needs to be to win fights at 140 and knock people out. he boxed a bit when he needed to with judah and did ok, but that wasn't his intention. i don't think he knew how to hit zab to the head without getting countered or turned around, and had to wait him out a few rounds by going to the body. eventually he caught up to zab and nearly finished him off. at 147 he might need to tune his offense up a bit and think defense some more. we'll see if he can. So far he's getting out of the way of most of the big stuff, taking what he can't avoid, and knocking guys out.

part of what i think makes lucas a hell of a lot more difficult to hit than is anticipated (either by fans or opponents,) is his footspeed. he needs to and wants to have his feet set to punch for the most part, but when he's getting out of the way or closing distance he's very fast. he had alexander on the ropes all night, and alexander is quick footed.

the judah fights are a relevant point of comparison to a certain degree. they do share him as a common opponent after all. he went the distance with both. both hurt him. still, that was matthysse's first big fight. does anybody really think matthysse hasn't gotten better?

Matthysse is a busy fighter who can punch. He has no technique, he can't box, and has heavy hands. You will see how limited he is when he's in with someone who can box. They will make Matthysse look like a baby. I hope Garcia knocks his ass out and then Matthysse sets up an appointment to see a dentist. It looks like he tried to get his grill fixed and they gave him bright white fake teeth.

The only thing that you can take from the Judah fights with both guys is that Garcia didn't respect Zab where Matthysse did. One clearly won and the other didn't.

I wouldn't be suprised if Garcia boxes his way to a decision win, as dangerous as Mathysse is he isn't as technically sound as Garcia...

I don't see Garcia KOing Lucas but that doesn't mean he can't win...lotta people are giving him zero chance...

So what it was Matthysse's first big fight. He lost clear or not. I don't think that he has gotten better. He has gotten in better shape, that's about it. That is always a big plus with any fighter. He's still the same old Matthysse. He will throw a hook so hard that if he misses, he will actually spin and fall to the canvas. He can fight, he just can't box.
