Ortiz vs. Gomez sounds like a glorified sparring session. If Ortiz has a tough time with him, coming off a layoff or not, it still won't look good. It's not like he got demolished by Josesito, he lost a competitive fight via freak accident. If he's worried about his jaw, then he shouldn't step in the ring.

Ortiz is done, I don't know why people keep bringing him up. It's the same thing with Dirrell, these dudes are finished. Gomez will outbox him but may lose a crooked decision because they need Ortiz for a "bigger" fight.

The fight would headline a card at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Ortiz has been inactive since last June's TKO loss to Josesito Lopez. During that match Ortiz suffered a broken jaw that required several surgical procedures. Gomez has been inactive since last July's loss to Shawn Porter.

Good matchup, Ortiz has been too inactive, just needs to get in there. Ortiz has had ALOT of up and downs, lol

i really thought they were going to make ortiz/mosley along with broner/maidana (perhaps on the same card). anyways, ortiz deserves an easier tune up when he's suffered two back to back losses the way he did. try out the new jaw, shake some rust off, and continue moving forward.

Solid comeback fight. He should fight the winner of Berto-Karass if he wins this fight.

I can't believe how badly people are complaining about this. Ortiz suffered a broken jaw in his last fight and has been out of the ring for a long time, I'd say Gomez is the perfect type of opponent for him.

And let's not forget Gomez vs Alvarez. Gomez was giving it to Alvarez pretty good in that fight and it was also stopped prematurely.
