The undercard will be great but no one is buying this ppv on the sole purpose of Danny Garcia/Lucas and very few are allowing it to be the deciding factor either. I just consider that fight a nice gesture and a way of Floyd getting big exposure to his next opponent(the winner).

doubt it will break the mayweather/de la hoya PPV record, even though matthysse is one of the most entertaining and a top fighter out there he is unknown to many casuals so im guessing it'll do about 1.8 million ppvs which is still solid

If it were on HBO maybe it would, though I doubt it. On Showtime PPV it won't.

People like to play off the Guerrero/Mayweather PPV bomb (750k buys) as "bad promotion" but in reality it had just as much promotion as Cotto/Mayweather did. There were commercials on popular TV networks, there was the Mayweather documentary on CBS, there was All Access, and there was Floyd's appearance at that college basketball thing and more.

Showtime has less drawing power, it's that simple.

This is all true and I agree with you. I'm not implying the PPV will bomb like his previous one, in fact it's almost certain it will do great numbers. I just don't believe it'll beat Oscar/Floyd numbers. A big part of it is the fact that Showtime simply has less drawing power than HBO.

My opinion of the buys in this fight:

With Hbo = 1.9m - 2.1m

With Showtime= 1.6m-1.8m

Great, great numbers and great money considering the price of the PPV but it will be not even close to the Oscar-Floyd record.
