im personally a fan of both. i think they are very good fighters. always have. i hate most of their fans tho and the worst part about them is simply their competition. charr?? pianeta?? seriously? who wants to see heavyweight greats fight quite possibly the worst boxers in the world?

If the Klitschkos were two brothers from Detroit or Philadelphia...

It'd make no difference at all, as far as I'm concerned.
I would still respect them as fighters, but find their style extremely boring and repetitive.
As a side note, I see people comparing Wlad and Floyd. Their styles are nothing alike, Mayweather has a number of moves and counter moves, can fight in the pocket, move, duck under a hook etc. etc.
Wlad instead is very effective, but can only do one thing.

If the Klitschko's were Americans then the received view on the heavyweight division would be that the division is in decent shape because it has two great fighters. American is where the greatest body of boxing opinion is formed. Americans in general, much like the British when we were the dominant force in the world, tend not to be able to see past their own insular experiences. It is like Mike Silver's 'The Arc of Boxing', insofar as his argument is convincing it is only so within the context of America.
You are of the mindset that people evaluate the klits comp based on who they are or whether they like them. This isn't the case. Thats just a defensive posture on your part because you don't have a rational way to react to other posters that point this out.
The real question is if the klits were from detroit or philly and everything was the same, would you be riding for them so hard?

Or would their haters feel very differently about them?

Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin is a Kazakh boxer of Russian-Korean descent who competed in the Middleweight division at the 2004 Summer Olympics and won the silver medal. He is the current WBA and IBO Middleweight Champion.

It's a pride thing I suppose, I'm from the States but I take my hat off to the Klitschkos. In due time they will gain their deserved respect, Wladimir is the 3rd longest reigning HW champ, that truly isn't an easy task. He will soon be the 2nd longest reigning champ.
