IMO, he fought a good fight against Floyd, and pounded Margarito into retirement? Maybe not great reasons, but y'know, maybe reason enough...

Jose Luis Castillo not only had a great performance against Floyd but also actually defeated him (even by HBO and Compubox standards but not the judges'). And the real boxer that sent Margarito to retirement was Pacquiao. Manny broke the eye orbital and seriously damaged the interior so practically that night the career of Margo ended and what we saw vs. Cotto could have happened with any other boxer targeting the area of the damaged eye. Don't deny credit to Manny trying to favor another fighter only because you like him.
