Won't happen. Holy **** if he fought for a belt in his first fight though.

Alright, reread and saw he's looking for it in his second fight. That would still be ridiculous.

Awesome. Can't wait to see what Vasyl looks like as a pro. (That "semi-pro" thing was nonsensical.) A first fight versus a guy like Salido is pretty badass. We might be witnessing the entrance of a new boxing superstar.

His hope is the winner for his second fight. WSB wasn't nonsensical it was great experience to help adjust to pro boxing against world class talent like Selimov and Bashenov. Its probably a big reason why he feels prepared to take on top pros right away.

Gennady will fight 2 more times, i'm sure kovalev will fight once or twice, and Vasya will fight in October-November. good fights to end this year for boxing

i'm not even that excited for canelo-floyd. floyd wins by UD, not worse all the hype and $ they make

Watered down professional boxing makes no sense to me, at least not from the athletes' perspective. I don't see how "semi-pro" boxing prepares a fighter leaving the amateur ranks any better than a few four round professional fights. A guy like Lomachenko doesn't need those kind of training wheels. I don't think any quality fighter does. The world class talent you speak of met in the amateurs.

Well he faced the top amateurs in the world. It prepares him 100X more then fighting complete bums with records like 3-10 for 2 years that he completely destroys. Those amateurs he faced are probably as good as pros ranked in the 30s, maybe even better.

Only that worries me is it being a 12 round fight, since he's never even fought half of that against a relentless guy like Salido who never stops coming

dude's an idiot if he thinks he can go from amateur fights to legit world championship fights.

i've seen a lot of lomachenko at this point, from those joke WSB type fights, to his amateur work at the international level. if he develops correctly he could be the goods. they don't need to move him at a snails pace, but they need to let him learn how to box professionally. if he takes a championship level fight right away he'll get stopped and embarrassed.

they are completely different sports. that's not at all a valid comparison. there's a reason top amateurs don't jump in with top 50 calibur opponents right away, and it's because they can lose.

the top amateurs do not automatically make top pros, especially today. just look at the olympics and world championships, and the world champions they produce. sure, some of the best make it, but most of them do not pan out into world champions. the sports are far too much unalike.

lets see how lomachenko does in a 10 or 12 round fight before we break out the annointing oil.

just think about how bad rigondeaux looked until he got in a few pro fights. the guy almost got knocked out by ricardo cordoba's dead body.

**** that Lomachenko could be a once in a generation talent. If he has the ability to win a belt in his first fight (which I believe he does) then PLEASE MAKE THAT HISTORY.
