Does Manny Pacquiao have a successor from the Phillipines in the wings?

Manny was one of the most beloved athletes on the planet, and probably still is to an extent. He was seen as the good guy, the 'peoples champ' in a sport full of the crooked and scum (regardless of talent). It's one of the reasons Bradley gets a LOT of hate
You won't find anybody like him again for a long time. Makes you sad that an era is coming to an end

The Philippines don't need a megastar the same way the US does. The boxing culture in the country is very strong. Boxing matches and tournaments are shown on major networks with enough regularity to keep the sport going strong. They even show major international boxing matches which have nothing at all to do with the Philippines. I looked at a TV planner for one of their major sports networks and they were still scheduling replays Bute vs Froch half a year after it happened.

pac put BOXING on the map again. i believe he carried boxing and fought toe-to-toe with UFC to get viewership. he was the ONLY reason the "boxing is dead" argument was invalid.
he never reached floyd status, but he never had to pull the same marketing tricks floyd was forced to do (WWE, dancing with the stars, 50-cent, controversial antics, mayweather family circus, etc.)
think about it, pac only did kimmel & 24/7. he remained silent the whole time otherwise. media sought after pac, he didnt have to "make" news.... he was a foreign fighter that fought his way out of obscurity into the limelight. he didnt come from a fancy fighting pedigree, had a legendary amateur career, or olympic medal.... he just simply KNOCKED dudes out.
hopefully, he inspired the country to produce more high-level fighters.
honestly, GGG is carrying that same kind of heat. happy-go-lucky guy that looks harmless, but is a BEAST in the ring.
