To begin with, Oscar apologized to Arum/Manny in 2011 but Arum had stated that Manny fighting Floyd had nothing to do with Oscar and that fight can take place!

That other stuff was Arum hoping to get a deal with Floyd without Oscar being part of it. So again, had NOTHING to do with not wanting the Floyd fight.

Finally, I can present you with links where both Arum and Manny said that they were OK with fighting in May if Floyd will accept 50/50. Manny even said the cut is fine. The reason that fight didn't happen was because Floyd put out another roadblock stating "Oh, by the way, I no longer want 50/50. I want ALL PPV money"
go right ahead but some of these quotes are coming from arum himself

For those that keep rivising history regarding Hatton and Mayweather with regards to where they fought and why. Read the3 article from the time and read it good.

Hatton wanted to fight the Gatti that Mayweather already shredded. He and his team wer stalling on a Mayweather or Cotto fight to try and make money. I remember Billy Graham's slapped arse face in the studio when Baldomir flushed their plans down the toilet. Hatton's team stalled and THAT is why the fight never took place at 140lbs. There was nobody to fight at 140lbs (as Arum wasn't letting Cotto near Mayweather back then) so Mayweather moved up. End of argument on that topic.

Ok, so the media's belief or general public belief is that Boxers give Manny the most problems.

Just to name a few..Erik Morales "who pac later beat"
"Juan Marquez "who some would argue beat Pacquiao multiple times including a recent ko"
And Tim Bradley "who pac beat with ease, but Bradley still has had the most success with Pacquiao compared to a few earlier opponents

Now all of these guys are GREAT boxers, but now let's compare them to a superior boxer, which is Floyd Mayweather.

                  Mayweather Vs the others

                  Quicker - Punching
                  Quicker - Reflex
                  Footwork
                  Taller
                  Naturally bigger
                  Longer reach
                  Slick
                  10 times better defense
More punching power than Bradley atlest

You see how this fight plays out.
Terrible style for Pacquiao to deal with.

As great of a fighter that Pac is, someone always has someone who is bad for their style....a long reachy fighter like Hearns would have beat Mayweather would ease.

My point is, can't win'em all.

From an interview with Nacho on Boxing Insider on July 11, 2011- (can't link urls yet lol)

“It’s a very good, important fight but that fight should not happen,” stated Beristain. “Because I believe Pacquiao will beat Mayweather. You’re gonna take away the glory that has made Mayweather these past years. Mayweather’s style – when he fights someone that pressures him and throws a lot of punches – he just beats him up.”

When asked if it would be an easy win for Pacquiao, Beristain answered: ”It won’t be an easy fight but Pacquiao will win the fight. Pacquiao will definitely win.”

Beristain has plenty of up-close experience of watching Pacquaio – Beristain cornered and trained Marquez twice against Pacquiao and Beristain also was in the corner with Oscar De La Hoya the night he took the vicious beating from Pac-Man. ”I know very well Pacquiao,” said the Mexico City-based trainer who is regarded by some as one of the greatest trainers in boxing history. “I’ve seen him fight many times. He’s very good. And everybody picks Mayweather to win the fight because he wins so much against easy fighters, but Pacquiao is just too tough, too strong.”

I was actually as her surprised at his take on the fight as a trainer, but I do think the fight would prime for prime, it would have been far more competitive than people writing off Pac are making it to be.
