This leaves me wondering why there was no offer for the fight to take place in Mexico for million dollar purses.
Makes me also wonder why, the whole idea of putting up the fight anywhere was quickly dropped by promoters. If JMM is that huge, the fight could be made in Mars and...
Whatever the sum was, the less than 50% offer to the champion is an insulting offer. Eric Morales and Manny Paqiao are more exciting to watch, but JMM is the one who has the belt.
that maybe true that he the champ but he has no fight coming up anytime soon while pac can have fight barrera or morales again
Statement "he should get at least 50% of the sum" is equivalent to statement "he should get at least as much as the opponent."
Ok, I get it. So that's how they do things now? They put up pots and divide the pots into purses?
Something like: "Okay fellas, here's 3 million dollars, you divide that among yourselves. Just quarrel over it a little bit...how it is gonna be divided. The guy who has headlined a couple of successful PVV fights gets the lion's share...
"Hey, wait! Pac headlined more successful PVVs... he had one with Barrera and one with JMarquez! Marquez only had one! That one with Pac!
"No can do! That formula won't work! Marquez is champ!
"That's an insult!"
Fight aborted. Next scene: Marquez tries to get promoters to get him a decent payday for his defense vs. some contender. Sadly his huge name in Mexico does not convince anyone. No promoter bit.

He made $50,000 against Pollo! That's a lot of dinero in Mexico. But my math tells me that $50,000 is less than $750,000.
He was given an insulting purse offer -- less than or equal 50%. Any champion has to get at least 60%.
JMM should thank PAC> If not for PAC nobody would have known his name. JMM is the coward. PAC agreed to the fight but coward JMM backed off at the last minute.
750,000 dollars is not worth his ass, his game is way too lame and way too boring.

Belts nowadays are no longer the issue here dude. This isn't the prehistoric era dude. Belts no longer carry the weight it had in the past. A solid reputation as a fighter and as a warrior is the measuring stick nowadays.
Even if JMM has the belt look at how his career has turned into. Everybody is laughing at his coward ass for overpricing himself, and now he's busy collecting beans.
