He'll help him develop a right hand, lack of a right hand got him in all types of problems vs the pillow fisted Trout

FWIW, Cotto also remarked when he switched to Pedro Diaz that he planned to finish his career using Pedro Diaz as his trainer. He has apparently said this about Roach. He may say this about his next trainer, Buddy McGirt.

Roach is a sluggers coach. I don't think he helps Cotto at all.

Perhaps reinvigorate the body attack and keep him pumping his jab the WHOLE fight, not just the first 4 rounds. Hopefully Ariza can help his stamina and he'll get quality sparring at Wild Card.

Cotto can train with jack loew it would not make a difference. cotto's been around for a long time. Nobody is going to teach him anything new. Once he gets in the ring he's going to fight the way he always fights in his entire career.

He's probably is his stamina roach should be able to help him a little bit their but cotto is his own man and does his own thing.

For whatever its worth Roach plans to get Cotto back to being an effective body puncher. Cotto's just trying to get to the finish line for a cash out payday vs Sergio Martinez. Cotto would enjoy being the A-side one last time then it's sionara boxing. Martinez isn't a big draw but it would be a summer PR Day clash in NYC one last time. On that day, in that venue Cotto can fight a heavy bag and set himself up with a Golden Parachute to retire.

I feel like its kind of like MMA where its good to train multiple places to train different aspects.

Im not saying this is good for every boxer. But at this stage in his careers its good to just work on different things. He can still use the knowledge Diaz gave him but Freddie will get him back to being more aggressive offensively again.

I think he will help him pick up the tempo in training and in the ring. He doesn't have to learn anything. He's a decent defender, has good movement, a great jab, a great body attack. He varies his punches well.

He's just slowed down. He has those sledgehammer type of punches, but doesn't always bunch them together. So if he can improve his stamina, then Freddie will have done his job.

Evangelista Cotto- had a falling out with this guy, and he ends up suing Miguel. Cotto had reason to let me go.

Joe Santiago- This guy isn't a legit trainer, "trained" Miguel for the Manny fight but we all know Miguel trained himself.

Emanuel Steward- Just wasn't the right fit for Miguel. Other fighters were letting Steward go around this time too.

Pedro Diaz- We don't know the full details on why this didn't work out yet.

Miguel has just had bad experiences with finding the right fit for a trainer. Hopefully Roach can be that right fit but Im not so sure he will be.
