    Does GGG remind anyone else...

of Miguel Cotto? He seems like a fighter with all the positives of a 2007-08 prime Miguel Cotto with added punching power.

They're both technically-sound boxers with a slight neglecting of defense (Cotto moreso than GGG), they have/had that killer instinct, every punch hurts, knock people out with the left hook to the body, etc. They're also willing and eager to face anybody and everybody, which is the main similarity.

The only discrepancy I see is that GGG has just a good power jab, whereas Cotto's jab was straighter and shorter but also powerful. Cotto didn't have the one-shot power outside of his body shot, but GGG has that.

Obviously they have different stances, defensive styles, etc., but are similar enough that it's worth mentioning.

Nope Cotto was protected by Arum for a while till he let Margarito on him. Cotto never looked like a killer to me in those days except when he fought Pinto..

Pinto, Quintana, Judah and Gomez he was on his killer **** bro. Those 4 are atleast equal in competition and in the way they got beat up compared to Proska, Rosado, Ishida and Macklin.

Only in the most general sense. Both have a good jab, both work the body, he's a pressure fighter like Cotto was before welterweight. I'm sure Cotto could appreciate the left hook that took out Macklin.

They don't really fight the same, though.

Cotto's a one handed fighter to me. He keeps his dominant hand in front using it to jab and left hook leads. Golovkin has power in both hands. That a big difference to me.

They do have some similarities though. They both use power jabs and commit to attacking the body. I wouldn't say Golovkin reminds me of Cotto though because they go about it differently. Maybe a combination of Cotto and Kosta Tszyu and that's still a reach.

I think he's more like a 160 pound Matthysse than Cotto. Kieran Mulveney described GGG as a middleweight Duran, there might be some truth to that comparison as well.

To the Duran comparison? I don't see it. He's good but he hasn't proven to be anywhere near that good. His power is better than Durans but otherwise? The skill level isn't there.
