    i think it's very possible. they'll need the money to be right.


    HBO flat out refusing rigondeaux, to the point where they are smearing him in the media, will drop the price. showtime has leverage now. he can't fight on HBO. if he wants big money fighting in the US he needs showtime. he'll have to accept less money.


    expect rigondeaux to be on the shelf for a long time between fights, and i'd expect him to be on showtime next, fighting somebody on the fringe for much less than he got in his last fight.


    rigondeaux may also retire. he may look to go overseas.


    i have no idea what his contract situation looks like right now [terms of a fighter's deal are explicitly confidential, generally] but if he's tied up with arum and arum is shelfing him arum is breaching contract. don king used to do that all the time, and he's been sued more times than i can count for it. they usually have an agreement to fight a certain amount of times. arum needs to get him fights. if he doesn't he'll have to have his lawyers to come up with an excuse, which he will.
